- Laurie Dickinson and Sarah Wadsworth have has undertaken a project to make available electronically key issues of the Penny Magazine of the Society for Useful Knowledge, a popular illustrated weekly of mid-nineteenth century Britain. We intend to publish graphical and annotated textual representations of these issues as well as to publish critical articles which pertain to them. Currently available are the is Preface to Volume I, Volume I, Number 1 and Volume II, Numbers 96, 101, 107, 112 which together comprise a series titled: "The Commercial History of a Penny Magazine". The Volume II Numbers duplicate full page representations of the journal as well as presenting an annotated version of the text, with pictures. in addition, this series is accompanied by a bibliography of relevant
historical and critical material.
