Godey's Lady's Book 1852
Figure 2 is a much plainer slip for a small infant. It is left in fullness from the band around the throat, and the skirt is simply ornamented by two rows of scolloped cambric edging. The same surrounds the neck and finishes the sleeves, which are intended to be looped up with ribbon of some bright and pretty color. It will be noticed that there is a narrow band, or gusset, upon the shoulder.
