The size of your team may vary depending upon the size of the facilities, but leaders of departments or people who are most familiar with the facilities and operations should be included. One individual or a smaller team should be designated to develop, implement, maintain, and revise the plan, while the others will provide input and information. Someone in senior management must have overall responsibility for the plan.
You may already have state or federal plans that require similar BMPs. See if these can be incorporated into the plan.
Some may include:
- Preparedness, Prevention and Contingency Plan (40 CFR Parts 264 and 265)
- Spill Control and Countermeasures (40 CFR Part 112)
- National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Toxic Organic Management Plan (40 CFR Parts 413,433,469)
