The Genesee Brewery was founded in 1878 in Rochester, New York. The Genesee Brewing Company is America's largest family-operated, regional brewery. While only being sold in half the country, it is ranked as the 7th largest brewery in the United States.
The Brewery is located at 445 St. Paul Street in downtown Rochester, New York. It has one and only one brewery in all of the United States. Hence its slogan One Brewery, One Great Taste. The Genesee Brewery distributes its products to 26 states and 2 Canadian Proviences.
Genesee distributes 8 beers under the Genesee name. Included among these are Genesee Beer, Genny Light, Genny Cream Ale, Genny Bock, Genny 12 Horse Ale, Genny NA (non-alcoholic), Genny Ice, and the newest in the Genesee line-up Genny Red.
Genesee also markets beer under the Shea's Brewery, Dundee's Brewery, and Fred Koch Brewery names. Shea's Brewery brews Michael Shea's Irish Amber, Michael Shea's Black & Tan, and Michael Shea's Blonde Lager. Dundee's Brewery markets one brew called JW Dundee's Honey Brown Lager. The Fred Koch Brewery markets Golden Anniversary Beer, Golden Anniversary Light Beer, and Golden Anniversary Ice Beer.
Genny Light Beer. Also naturally carbonated, Genny Light is brewed with both two-row and six-row barley malts to produce a light beer with distinctive taste and character. Genny Light is a true light beer containing 96 calories per 12 ounce serving while delivering a full-bodied beer flavor. Genny Light was introduced in 1978.
Genesee Cream Ale. Fermented at higher temperatures, aged longer and brewed with a special top-fermenting yeast, Genesee's brewmasters take the extra step of kraesening which produces natural carbonation, resulting in a true ale with an exceptionally smooth flavor. "Genny Cream" has the distinct honor of winning two consecutive gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival. Genesee Cream Ale was introduced in 1960.
12 Horse Ale A rich, full-bodied, yet remarkably smooth American-style ale, 12 Horse is brewed with six-row barley malt, corn grits, hops from the Yakima Valley and a special top-fermenting yeast, resulting in an exceptional balance and solid head. 12 Horse Ale was introduced in 1934.
Genesee NA (Non-Alcoholic) "Genny NA" is a draft brewed with six-row barley malt, and a special blend of premium hops, then cold aged for a full-bodied, refreshing non-alcoholic malt beverage. Genesee uses a special process that restricts the formation of alcohol during the normal brewing process, thus producing a flavorful malt beverage without the alcohol. Genesee NA was introduced in 1991.
Genesee Bock Beer A "specialty" seasonal brew produced only once a year, Genesee Bock Ber is brewed in the old German tradition with only the purest ingredients. Introduced in January of each year, Genesee Bock is only available as limited supplies last. This rich and hearty beverage is brewed in celebration of centuries old tradition and the arrival of spring. Genesee Bock Beer was first introduced in 1878.
Genny Ice Beer Their master brewers begin with only the purest natural ingredients. During the unhurried aging process, ice crystals form in the beer, then it is cold filtered for a richer, fuller flavor. Genny Ice was introduced in 1993.
Genny Red Genny Red is brewed in our regional tradition with three varieties of roasted malts and aromatic hops to produce a distinctive Red Lager, brilliant in color and absolutely pure. Genny Red is light amber in color and is 3.7 percent alcohol by weight. Genny Red was introduced in March, 1995.

Michael Shea's Irish Amber.
Their brewmaster skillfully blends three varieties of select barley malt to produce a light, yet full-bodied beer with an abundant head, reddish-amber hue and rich caramel flavor. Two varieties of American Northwestern hops contribute just the right amount of tanginess and aromatic character. Michael Shea's Irish Amber was introduced in 1992..

Michael Shea's Blonde Lager. Michael Shea's Blonde Lager is brewed with two-row and six-row barley malts, and Mt. Hood and Galena hops. It is lighter in color than the Irish Amber and Black & Tan, and has a pleasant, hoppy nose and crisp, clean finish. Michael Shea's Blonde Lager was introduced in February, 1995..

JW Dundee's Honey Brown Lager
Man first brewed with honey more than 2,000 years ago. Mead was proclaimed the drink of ancient kings, and was the product of fermented honey, water, and yeast.
