THEATRICAL - An European correspondent of one of the
Philadelphia papers writes that the danseuse Taglioni will
not come to New York, because she cannot be insured the
payment of six hundred dollars per night! and adds-"I think
the public permit themselves to be too much humbugged by
singers, fiddlers, players, mountebanks and buffoons-from
Taglioni and Macready down to Tom Thumb." We believe there
are many others of the same opinion.
