A little change of pace this month an invention instead of an inventor. This invention is known by two names one for the inventor and the other for something that is used in the invention. It was invented to aid in surveying in the 19th century. It was used in the civil war by both the north and south. It was used on the land and sea and I have even seen an engraving showing it used in the air. Do you know what it is?
